Volunteering can be a brilliant way to boost your mental wellbeing. It’s a great feeling knowing you’re helping young people get skills for life, and you might even learn a lot about yourself along the way.
Scouts can make you feel good in other ways too. We’ll guide you to an opportunity where you’ll:
- Make friends and meet people
- Try new things and challenge yourself
- Get outdoors and get stuck in
- Positively impact your community
- Create vital opportunities for young people
- Make memories that’ll last a lifetime
If you can only occasionally help, that’s OK. Whether you’d like to be an activity planner, tea-maker or craft creator, we appreciate any time you can spare.
You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family.
We provide the training. You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life. Sounds fun? Worthwhile? It is…
Vacancies
Our sections: Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers need a team of uniformed leaders and assistants to run them, helping our young people be amazing.
We have the following vacancies:
- Section Teams
- Squirrell! Yes there’s probably some in the trees here, but none in Westhill yet. Want to help start up a section for some amazing 4-6 year olds?
- Beavers. Those 6-8 year olds have leaders; those leaders need some assistants.
- Cubs. Cubs are like beavers, but a different animal. They’re a bit bigger and a bit noisier. We could really use a few assistants to keep them from climbing too high up trees.
- Scouts. Once they get to 10 ½ they’re no longer animals. They get even more adventurous and full of fun.
- Group Support Roles
- Quartermaster – someone to organise all our equipment and keep it ship-shape
- Fundraising – are you good at extracting money from people? Come do it for us!
- Hall Maintenance – can you fix things / build things / paint? Maybe you have a really useful trade? AI can’t look after our hall yet.
- Events Helpers – can you occasionally help run a fundraising stall or help out at event? We have plenty of very helpful jobs you can do.
- Behind the scenes administration
- Trustees – Responsible for running the charity
- Chair of the Trustee Board – Leads the Trustee Board and sets its agenda
- Young Trustee – aged 18-24? Come get some great experience in running a charity
- IT Guru – our computers don’t look after themselves yet, but maybe you can
- Data Lead – do you know your ABCs from your GDPR?
- Grants Team – help us get big piles of money to make the Scout Hut even better
- Bookkeeper – where have all those 1p’s gone? Maybe you can find them
- Volunteer Recruitment – can you do better than this advert? Come show us!
- Volunteer Coordination – once they’re recruited, we need to look after them.
- Admin Team Lead – all these admin people need to be pointed in the right directiion
No previous experience? No problem. We’ll give you everything you need.
Whether you’d like to help out week-after-week or whenever-you-can, we provide learning opportunities and cups of tea – every step of the way.
